I have.
When I’m stressed, I often lose the ability to enjoy life’s moments. It feels like joy gets pushed aside until the challenge is over.
But here’s the problem: life doesn’t wait. If we postpone joy until stress is gone, we miss out on the very things that could keep us grounded and energized.
So, how do we protect joy during stressful times? Here are a few ideas that work for me:
✅ Micro-moments of gratitude – I pause for 60 seconds and notice one thing I can appreciate right now. It could be a smile, a cup of coffee, or even the fact that I am breathing.
✅ Move your body – A short walk or stretch can reset your nervous system and create space for joy.
✅ Connect with someone – A quick chat with a friend or colleague can remind you that you are not alone.
✅ Celebrate small wins – Even in chaos, there are victories. Acknowledge them – they matter.
✅ Breathe intentionally – Two minutes of deep breathing can calm stress and open the door for joy.
Stress is inevitable. Losing joy doesn’t have to be.
