Do you ever leave work but take work with you?
Not physically, but mentally.
You leave the office. You close the laptop. You sit down for dinner, but you are not fully present, because you are thinking about the email you forgot to send, the conversation that didn't go as planned, or tomorrow's presentation.
I have certainly experienced this.
For years, I thought ending the workday was simply a matter of shutting down my computer. But what I learned is that my body might leave work, while my mind often stayed behind.
The result?
Less recovery. Less presence. Less energy.
One Small Step
Before you finish work today, take two minutes and answer three questions:
✅ What did I accomplish today?
✅ What is the next step for tomorrow?
✅ What is no longer today's problem?
Write down your answers. Then give yourself permission to stop.
The goal isn't to finish everything. The goal is to finish consciously.
I've found that this small practice helps me mentally close the day and create space for whatever comes next.
Whether that's family, exercise, reading, or simply doing nothing for a while.
Small endings often create better beginnings.
🚀 This is one of the many stories and practices I share in my new book BOOST - Energize Your Life One Small Step at a Time, which launched recently and is now available wherever books are sold.
What helps you switch off from work at the end of the day?
