The most important meeting minute is the one between meetings.
Yet most of us never take it.
We finish one meeting and immediately join the next.
No pause.
No reset.
No opportunity to close the open loops from the previous conversation.
I've certainly done it.
A challenging discussion at 10:00.
A project review at 11:00.
A leadership team meeting at 12:00.
And before I know it, I'm physically present in the next meeting, but mentally I'm still in the previous one.
The result?
Less focus.
Less presence.
Less energy.
I've learned that energy isn't only consumed by what we do. It's also consumed by what we carry with us.
One Small Step
Before your next meeting, take two minutes to reset.
✅ Close your eyes or look away from your screen.
✅ Take three slow breaths.
✅ Ask yourself: What is complete about the last meeting? What deserves my attention in the next one?
Then enter the meeting with intention.
Two minutes may not sound like much. But those two minutes can be the difference between merely attending a meeting and being fully present in it.
Small pauses create more energy than many people realize.
What helps you reset between meetings?
