One Small Step #3 - Rumination

Have you ever noticed how a 10-minute event can consume hours of your energy?

An uncomfortable email.

A comment from a colleague.

A meeting that didn't go as planned.

The event is over. But we go through the conversation again and again, searching for a different outcome.

The problem is that rumination keeps our energy locked in the past.

When I catch myself doing this, I use these three simple questions:

❓What happened?

❓What did I learn?

❓What will I do differently next time?

These questions shift me from rumination to reflection.

Reflection creates learning. Rumination drains energy.

One Small Step: The next time you find yourself replaying a situation in your mind, try these three questions, then let the experience go and ask yourself what is one small action you can do to stop rumination?

This is one of the many stories and practices I share in BOOST - Energize Your Life One Small Step at a Time, which is now available for pre-order.
