My most recent experiment...

This week I started a new experiment: working 80%.

I'm currently writing a book about energy management, yet I still consider myself a work in progress.

For a long time, I've been fascinated by the question of how we sustain our energy, not just our productivity. It's easy to talk about recovery, boundaries, and creating space. It's harder to actually do it.

So, starting this week, I've reduced my working time and am taking Fridays off.

Yesterday was my first Friday.

To be honest, it felt strange.

Instead of immediately enjoying the extra space, I noticed something else: a strong urge to be productive. To use the time well. To achieve something. To justify having the day.

Then I remembered why I decided to do this in the first place.

Not to get more done.

But to create more space.

To rest more.

To think more.

To explore what happens when life isn't scheduled quite so tightly.

I know that not everyone has the possibility to make a change like this, and I'm grateful that I do. That's exactly why I'd like to use the opportunity as an experiment and learn from it.

One day in, I have no conclusions.

Only a question:

Why is it sometimes so difficult to simply allow ourselves to recover?
